Shots fired far away spark a civil war that will have painful repercussions for an Illinois family. The author has written this novel in such a way, as to cause the reader to be able to experience and feel the emotions of the people during the war.
And so the war started and hundreds of thousands of casualties resulted from this war. Brilliantly representing the passionate feelings of both sides in the Civil War, Hunt brings the reader to a fuller understanding of this conflict, showing both the futility of war and the breadth of its human consequences.
But soon Jethro regrets his excitement when all his brothers, his cousin, and his favorite school teacher, Shadrach Yale have to go off to fight. The time is April, Jethro, not knowing the reality of war, is excited and curious. This novel, written instill remains intact with the times today, however Across Five Aprils is not a series book.
