But trying to impress her new friends, "her clothes [are] the same as theirs" 3. In addition, she is an insecure girl who cares a lot about what others think of her. Amy and David were best friends in Elementary school, spending all of their time together.
In fact, she is so entroverted that she greets David by "jumping agilely over the exposed water meter and looking right into [his] face" 3.
This is revealed when Kretschmer writes that "[Amy] hardly [speaks] to [David] at school, ever " David has kept who he is, "and it is what [he] will always be" 4. Amy has a different personality compared to David.
Amy has her own unique characteristics while David has his. Amy deepens the space between her and David by becoming more interested in materialistic objects, and her image. Moreover, Amy has lost herself in highschool, she tries to fit in and become popular; therefore, "though Amy wore cutoffs and grungy T-shirts in the summer, during the school year her clothes were the same as theirs" And when you and your best friend grow apart, it can seem like the end of the world.
She "[dates] ten guys a month" 4 and goes to "every party, every football game, [and] every prestigious event at school" 4.
When around David, she "[wears] cutoffs and grungy T-shirts" 3. When friends grow apart, for any reason, it feels like loosing a part of yourself in the process. He is an introverted boy who is shy and timid. David "[is] an artist, always [has] been" 2and sticks with that even though Amy has moved on because it is something that he is passionate about.
Many people change in high school, and this is very apparent with Amy by being shallow as she shows her insecurities. Knowing who you are while in high school is very difficult for some people. Amy and David were completely themselves around each other, however as Amy changes her insecurities are shown as "she [stops] eating around [David]" 3 and "[complains] she [is] fat" 3.
Amy and David, people were once best friends, grow farther and farther apart from each other as time has passed. Unlike Amy, David has distinct charactersics. Moreover, while Amy surrounds the populars and goes to "every party, every football game, every prestigious events at school," 20 David has only "a few acquaintances good enough to talk to between classes" She is an outgoing girl who is unafraid of anything.
This is depicted when Kretschmer writes that he "[hides] alone" 20 in high school. He is very different than Amy, or at least the Amy that everyone else knows. When high school comes along, things are not the same anymore.
Amy starts prioritizing her new friends and popularity; David gets left behind. Amy becomes more interested in other boys as she pushes David away. Although they were once best friend, they took on distinctive roads for the future. Her and David used to be best friends, but now she "hardly [speaks] to [him] at school, ever" 3.
While Amy is insecure and shallow, David is insightful and passionate.Summer and winter compare and contrast In many perspectives summer is hot, like a degree oven and others say that winter is cold as ice.
