Glass book report

The sound of their snoring resembles music. Although her father proves even more infuriating than her mother, she refuses to hate him for his faults and instead describes her devout faith in him. Alice finds herself in a forest, conversing with a chicken sized Gnat, who tells her about the different insects of Looking-Glass World.

Character development is fantastic.

Throne of Glass Summary & Study Guide

The author focuses on her unconventional childhood with somewhat unfit parents much too lazy and self-absorbed to even obtain decent jobs. Red Glass, by Laura Resau Red Glass, by Laura Resaupp Sophie drives an hour south from her home to sit alone in the desert, where she thinks of her life as an amoeba -- a nobody, sickly and pale.

Humpty Dumpty treats Alice rudely, boasting that he can change the meanings of words at will. Here are some specific things I liked lots: Which leads to another thing I really like about this book--it pays re-reading.

A year after her sentence is declared, she is summoned by the Crown Prince, Dorian, who convinces her to make a deal. He promises to bring her safely to the last square where she will become a queen.

Not only does she refuse to get a job when she knows her own children are hungry, but in one part of the memoir she actually stoops so low as to surreptitiously eat a "huge family sized Hershey chocolate bar" while the rest of the family scavengers for food.

Meanwhile, her relationships with both Dorian and Chaol begin to take on romantic leanings, even as the other Champions are being discovered dead one by one, and appear to have been ripped apart. Though the shop is full of curious things, Alice finds that she cannot fix her eye on any one thing.

They are looking for the wife and mother they lost, and the jewels she buried. This section contains words approx. She crosses the final brook and finds herself sitting on the bank with a crown on her head. Alice and the White Knight walk and talk together, and Alice finds a friend in the eccentric chessman.

Then one day, a chicken lays its first egg, and Pablo, so proud and happy about it, is able to tell who he is. She sits and begins eating, but the party quickly devolves into total chaos.

Throughout the memoir she recounts memories of moving from one dilapidated neighborhood to another with her three other siblings, insanely "free sprinted" mother, and incredibly intelligent yet alcoholic father.

The Red Queen tells Alice she can stand in as a White Pawn and marks a course for Alice, explaining that when she reaches the end of the game, Alice will become a Queen. With the help of Dorian and Chaol, and Princess Nehemia of Eyllwe, Celaena continues training against the Champions, especially the warrior Cain, who proves to be the largest challenge amongst the contestants by far, and also seeks to learn who or what is killing the Champions.

Alice comes across the White King, who explains to her that he has sent all of his horses and men, presumably to put the shattered Humpty Dumpty back together again. In return for just a few years of service, Dorian swears that she will be paid well and rewarded further with her freedom.

The White King tells Alice to cut the cake, but she finds that every time she slices the cake the pieces fuse back together. The book would be just the same if she would have left them out. All of a sudden, a loud crash shakes the forest and she watches soldiers and horsemen run by.

She does the same thing in another even more infuriating instance. Could have been a distinct winner for me. After learning the names of the insects, Alice sets off again and discovers that she has forgotten the names of things, even her own name. Alice reaches for the egg and finds herself back in the forest, where the egg has transformed into Humpty Dumpty.

While most in similar situations observe experiences like these through unforgiving eyes, Walls views her unfortunate experiences through the transparent walls of the "glass castle" and recalls how although not rich with money, she learns to overflow with not only strength, but the determination to succeed as well.

Alice suddenly finds herself on the mantelpiece and steps through the mirror into Looking-Glass House. Alice wakes up from her dream to find herself holding Kitty. Each setting is vivid, the language is lovely, and the ways in which the characters change felt true, both to life and themselves.

Alice distributes the cake, but before they begin eating, a great noise interrupts, and when Alice looks up, she finds herself alone again. She must leave Sophie the sickly amoeba behind, and become, as she tells herself, Sophie la Fuerte, the strong and brave.

They each nag Alice until the train eventually lurches to a halt.Red Glass has 1, ratings and reviews. Cara said: I'm not going to be able to say enough great things about this book but I'll try my killarney10mile.com 4/5. Throne of Glass Summary & Study Guide Description.
